Oh Lord, believe my true soul How it roll like the railroad go Glory me, mighty fine I can't wait 'til quittin' time.. Breakin' up rocks Shackles on my feet Let me hear the sweet trickle of Holy water 'neath my feet Deep in the earth 'low my feet Swingin' high, swinging low If I had more self control Oh Lord, wontchuh carry me home Trouble me, hate the Devil Woe for me, see me level Like Old Moses, and his people go To the Promised Land Part the sea Lord Help me understand Take me to the river Jordan It's hot Lord hot like hell And the flies is thick 'round my head If I won't be free Lord soon get me dead..

about

The 'story': It had been awhile since being heavily involved in the jams. When compiling Dessert Sessions Vol. 1, I had to dig deep in the vaults for some material. I also decided to record some new ones for good measure- just to make sure there was enough.

Uh oh, somehow there ended up to be MORE than enough jams by the time all was said and done! So enter Dessert Sessions Volume 2. In a way it's the bonus to Volume 1, or Volume 1 Part 2. In another way it's its own thing. Did you just see that? I wrote ' it's its' without breaking any grammar rules! Or maybe I did. Which reminds me I have to remind you the spirit of the Dessert Sessions thoroughly involves breaking the rules. Spending next to no money on it...crazy genre jumping...you name it. Volume 2 still has a sort of aura where all of the songs share a certain connection with each other. A lot of numero dos is kind of gothic, dark and ambient. Which fits well since it is an All Hallows Eve release. The R080T5 (robots) make a substantial appearance...there's a good share of electronic noises and surging synths. By now you can go back to Volume 0 for comparison and see slowly more polish and layering creeps in with each Dessert Sessions release. The goal is to have so much polish and layering that by the time Volume 10 comes there'll be a minimum of 5000 layers per song. You might not hear music anymore and your speakers might blow up but oh well.
If there's a motto for this particular volume of D-Sesh, it's to 'enter the mysterious dark, and see what happens when you come out of the other side.'

A note on the dessert: Deep fried ice-scream is a delicacy in Hell. They capture the screams of tormented souls and wrap them in a tasty batter, then deep fry it all using the Eternal Fires of Torment for heat. Demons love to snack on this treat. It's a good idea to have some in your pocket to feed them if you need a quick diversion to get away. Jussayin'...

Dessert Sessions Collective Ontario, California

This is not the Desert Sessions! This is a parody/tribute. You may dig it just as much though. It's still really trippy stuff to groove to, and is made in the same spirit of random friends coming together in different configurations, and improvising tunes, then releasing them. Enjoy. ... more
